Not now- not until- how’s that for moral clarity

A delegation of Christian leaders on New Zealand just criticised their government for even thinking of recognising a Palestinian state.

Not yet and not until- these were the conditions

Not yet and not until all the hostages are released

Not yet and not until Hamas are removed from power

Not yet and not until all conditions for statehood are reached.

Moral clarity that is something that has been severely lacking. As Hamas shot rockets at a humanitarian aid convoy today they show everything they are but the world chooses to ignore what it sees.

It has been said that if returning the hostages stops the war it is not a genocide. Conversely if stopping the war endangers the security of every Israeli they are probably facing a genocide.

Lack of moral clarity is spreading around the whole world. When actions do not suit their narrative they ignore them or distort them. Yesterday Lyse Doucet mentions that some hostages had not survived captivity. How’s that for linguistic gymnastics. The word she was looking for was murdered.

Meanwhile apparently in Leeds no offences were committed on Saturday, no hate crimes, no harassment, no alarm, no distress. Where is any moral clarity on this.

Paul Weller, lead singer of The Jam is suing his accountants, Harris and Trotter because they will not represent him due to his views on supporting Gaza and vilifying Israel. Moral clarity from my great aunt’s old employer. Paul is upset cause they don’t like his views. Well tough, it’s called moral clarity.

When will anyone on our country with influence get any moral clarity. At least on Israel, whatever your views of how we get there, however many demos etc they want the same thing- hostages home and an end to war. The one thing stopping this has been the lack of moral clarity by many on this world. M
